Join Qutwo, Europe's private Quantum AI Lab, on our quest to bridge the gap between the classical and the quantum world. We partner with the most advanced and forward-thinking customers, solving fundamental real-world problems side by side.
The best scientists and engineers in the world are drawn to one thing: a problem worthy of their ability. At Qutwo, we have one. We are a European AI lab for the quantum era, co-founded by pioneers behind IQM and Silo AI, with a team spanning MIT, UC Berkeley, Cambridge, and Carnegie Mellon, and backed by the founders of Skype, Hugging Face, Quantinuum, Supercell and many more. We work at the intersection of quantum computing, AI, optimisation, and simulation, where the answers do not yet exist and the work genuinely matters.
We are seeking a Head of Security. If you are a humble learner, not afraid of the unknown, we encourage you to apply.
Role Description
As Head of Security, you will own Qutwo's security and compliance programme across our products and cloud platforms. You will make sure the company meets its certification and regulatory obligations as it scales. This is a leadership and coordination role. You will set direction and standards, then work closely with our existing infrastructure, engineering, and IT security teams, who own the technical detail.
Certification & Accreditation: Lead Qutwo through formal security certifications such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2. This covers gap analyses, control frameworks, audit readiness, and working with auditors and accrediting bodies.
Regulatory Compliance: Make sure we meet GDPR, NIS2, the EU AI Act, and emerging European AI regulations.
Product & Platform Security Oversight: Define the security requirements for what Qutwo builds and the cloud platforms we run on, and make sure they are met across teams.
Security Governance: Own the security roadmap, policies, and risk register, and turn business and customer requirements into clear priorities.
Risk & Vendor Management: Lead security risk assessments and vendor security reviews, and own the incident response framework.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work alongside our infrastructure, engineering, and office IT security teams, coordinating rather than duplicating their work.
Customer Assurance: Act as the senior point of contact for customer security reviews, questionnaires, and audits.
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in information security, security governance, or compliance, including leading a security or compliance programme.
A proven track record of taking an organisation through formal certification such as ISO 27001 or SOC 2.
Strong knowledge of GDPR and European regulatory frameworks, with the judgment to build a compliance programme rather than just administer one.
A solid technical understanding of cloud platforms and product security, enough to work credibly with engineers without needing to own every detail.
Excellent stakeholder management, with the ability to lead through influence across technical and business teams.
Experience owning security budgets and managing vendor relationships.
Experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus:
Defence-sector contracting, security clearances, or government security requirements.
EU AI Act compliance and emerging European AI regulation.
Security for AI, HPC, or research environments.
